My Life Would Suck Without You by Kelly Clarkson!

This monster hit, created by pop Frankensteins Max Martin and Dr. Luke, has rhythm and melody lines ripped indiscriminately from all their other hits and lyrical inspiration courtesy of a high schooler’s Facebook wall. (“I know that I’ve got issues/ But you’re pretty messed up too.”) Where a lesser singer might have tried to animate the parts with a vocal lightning storm, Kelly Clarkson sings the words with her signature ease, building to an emotional crescendo that’s pointless to resist. Nearly a decade after her journey from waitress to American Idol, Clarkson’s lack of pretension remains her greatest asset. -Time.com

Congrats Kelly Clarkson for the #1 song in 2009!!!!

Also, at #10 is “Mad World” by Adam Lambert.

“Talent is a trend,” goes the old record-company proverb, and Adam Lambert proved it repeatedly on the reality talent show that no one remembers he didn’t win. In particular, Lambert’s performance of this slowly building Tears for Fears track shows off his ability to interpret a song and create dramatic tension — a lost art in pop music. It also helps that he holds his notes with remarkable clarity and has such obvious vocal star power that America couldn’t help but make him the … well, whatever. -Time.com

Not to shabby for a new artist who didn’t even win Idol.

I love when artists cover songs and put their own twist on things. Here is Kelly Clarkson covering That I Would Be Good and Use Somebody.

Not sure why Kelly Clarkson needs to sing Miley Cyrus when Kelly is 10x more talented and has been since day one. But I guess it’s good to appeal to a bigger audience.

I’m totally addicted to this song which could be because it’s been stuck in my head all day.

The video is kind of cool and Kelly looks great; as always.

Oh, no
I do not hook up, up
I go slow
So if you want me
I don’t come cheap
Keep your hand
In my hand
And your heart
On your sleeve
Oh, no
I do not hook up, up
I fall deep
Cause the more that you try
The harder I’ll fight

I thought Kelly Clarkson’s last album was pretty good, however it wasn’t the fun and snarky album many have come to love.  The good news is her first single “My Life Would Suck Without You” from her new album seems to bring old Kelly back.

As you can see Kelly has changed her appearance again.  This time is back to blond and she’s all dolled up.  Looks a bit like Julia Stiles, the movie actress.  And her next album cover looks like something from Charlie’s Angels; the 2000 version.  Not that that’s a bad thing, I’m just saying.

After being used for the closing montage for the ‘Best of the Rest’ episode, “Best Days” by Graham Colton was tapped again to be the exit song in the first, and second, round of the Top 24.

American Idol fans may be familiar with Graham when he opened up for Kelly Clarkson on both “Breakaway” and “Behind These Hazel Eyes” tours in 2005. The two were also romantically linked but split because of time apart but remain good friends. The song is available on iTunes and you can you can find out more about Graham on his Myspace.

David Archuleta17 year old David Archuleta is heating up American Idol. In only the second week of the top 24 the crowd is going wild. Girls screaming, fans on their feet and judges calling him brilliant.

So what is it about David that makes him so special?

  1. Age – Being only 17, David has that young look that the girls love so much.
  2. Modesty – He doesn’t take any of this for granted and is often surprised when he gets good reviews or hears the girls screaming with excitement.
  3. Talent – Best of all, he can sing far better that most everyone else on American Idol this season.

Even at 11, when David met up with season 1 finalist Kelly Clarkson, she was shocked at how well he could sing. I wonder if she still remembers him.

So, does David have this in the bag? It’s a bit early to say, but he is by far one of the best this season so far!
