I was out all last week but I did manage to catch the American Idol result show. It was sad to see Gina, Phil and Haley in the bottom three, yet two had been there before. This time, Gina went home.
It’s sad to see her go, but I wasn’t a big fan of her anyway. Early on in the group performances, she seemed a bit mean. Personality is a big piece of Idol, or at least it should be. No one wants jerk to win. However, during the individual shows she seemed better and I think it was a little early for Gina to go, but then again, who knows how people are voting.
I also caught parts of one of her post Idol interviews on Fox and she said that she’d really like to do Broadway. With musicals getting edgier to draw in more people, I could defiantly see her there.
Good luck Gina, hopefully you don’t just disappear like so many other idols.
I’ve put together a list of Idol contestants with their celebrity look alikes. Some are quite similar, others not so much. Check ‘em out!
Gina Glocksen and Pink

One part attitude, one part hair color and a little bit of fun all mixed into one.
Haley Scarnato and Nikki Cox aka Mary on NBC’s Las Vegas

Nearly identical twins I tell ya.
Blake Lewis and Adam Levine aka Lead Singer of Maroon5

Maybe it’s the alternative music, or the funky hair, but I see the similarities.
Jordin Sparks and America Ferrera aka Ugly Betty on ABC

Sisters? Separated at birth?
Lakisha Jones and Mandisa from American Idol Season 5

Big women, big voices and tons of talent. Lets hope Lakisha does better than Mandisa did.
Chris Richardson and Justin Timberlake

Even Simon has been saying this since the beginning.
Chris Sligh & Carrot Top

Both funny men with big hair. Who doesn’t see that?
Melinda Doolittle & DW from Arthur

Ok, I kinda see it, but I didn’t come up with this one on my own.
Phil Stacey & Sting

Ok, if you get past the visuals and just listen to Phil sing ‘Every Breath You Take’ you’d swear it was Sting. They sounded exactly the same!
Sanjaya Malakar & Macy Gray

Both a little different, questionable sining abilities and crazy hair. Yet lots of fans. Go figure.
Ok, I’ll admit, some of my look alikes are not perfect, but if you can think of someone better, do let me know.
Is it to early to predict that a female will be the next American Idol? After tonight’s performances, it’s clear that the girls are outshining the boys by a long shot!
Stephanie Edwards kicked off the show on a high note and set the bar pretty high. The downside to Stephanie is she looks quite similar to Fantasia Barrino. It may be hard for people to see the real her when they keep thinking of Fantasia.
Two of my favorite girls also stole the show by sining their hearts out and brining down the house. Backup singer Melinda Doolittle has forever left the background singers and joined the stars. I found it interesting that last year she was thinking of being a backup singer for American Idol. Now she’s starring in it!
And then there was Lakisha Jones who Simon basically said was the next American Idol. Her performance was miles above anyone else and she impressed all three judges so much, they couldn’t think of anything bad to say. The only downside I saw was she looked a little freaky at times in her performance. She needs to work on stage presence a bit.
I think the thing that makes Melinda and Lakisha stand out is their lack of confidence. Gina Glocksen, who did quite good, may loose out on votes because she’s over confidante. There is to much of a good thing. Melinda and Lakisha seem more real and down to earth and I think that’s an excellent quality to have.
So far, after week one, the girls are kicking butt and Lakisha Jones is shining high above the rest.

Talk about cutting out the wanna bee’s from the can bee’s, Idol races through hundreds of constants and we are left with only 12 girls and 12 guys.
Talent wasn’t a huge factor in the Hollywood week, it was more about dealing with the pressure, memorizing songs with short notice and being able to do more than just a good first impression.
I don’t agree with all the cuts the judges make, but then again, who does. We don’t see it all and someone had to go.
Some of my early favorites include:
Some that bug me include:
We’ll really get to see them shine, or choke, when in the up-coming weeks as it only gets harder from here.
