It happened last season and again this season. At least one horrible content has claimed that they learned to sing via Paula & Randy’s DVD Ultimate Voice Coach - Learn To Sing Like A Star.
The 3 disc DVD claims to teach a person how to sing using some of the same voice coaches that the stars use. It features voice coaches Gary Catona and Ron Anderson and says that you can learn to sing Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Rock, Country, Gospel, Jazz or Opera. In just a few hours you can be on your way to stardom!
It sounds like a cheesy infomercial and I think it probably is. If I wanted to learn how to sing, I’d take my chances and pay for a voice coach instead of paying for a DVD that won’t give me any feedback. It is only $30 though so it’s much cheaper. I guess sometimes you do get what you pay for.
Just released to day is Katharine McPhee’s self title debut album. Featuring 12 songs from the runner-up of American Idol season 5.
I have to say, after hearing the album in iTunes, I’m running out to download it anytime soon. It just doesn’t seem to fit the Katharine McPhee I remember, and voted for, on Idol.
Have you taken the album for a spin? What do you think?

It seems that Paula Abdul is toping the movers and shakers list for web searches. People are putting her name in search engines left and right. But what do they want to know? Well the same thing I do. Is Paula drunk?
Ok, lets face it. It’s hard to think anything different these days. Sometimes she’s fine, but more than not she’s got some off the mark comment, or she’s swaying or she’s doing one of those things that you usually do after to many beers. Her appearance on the show this season hasn’t been any different. She looks intoxicated most of the time. If she really does have some sort of disorder (like Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy - RSD) then it really should be announced. Myself, I say it’s the booze talking.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, check out American Idol on Tuesday and watch Paula. More than likely she’ll be acting a bit strange or just plain out of it.
You can also check out this video interview below.
So Paula, when are you starting rehab?
One of the most interesting contestants from American Idol season 5 was Kellie Pickler. Not the most talented, but the most entertaining by far. She quickly made a name for herself and it wasn’t for sining. However, her distinct voice is easy to recognize and her album was one of the first from season 5 to hit the store shelves. As a country artist, she’s already incredibly successful with only one song released.

Idol visited the city that never sleeps last night and the odd balls were out in high numbers. Ian Bernardo was enough to do me in. I hope that’s the last time I ever see this guy as I did see him on So You Think You Can Dance also. Dude, you need a new personality and some talent if you think you are going to be a superstar.
Opera singer Rachel Zevita made it through and that surprised me a little. I didn’t feel she was that good. On the other hand Sarah Goldberg didn’t through. I guess you shouldn’t enter a singing competition if you can’t sing. I think that’d be obvious, but I must be wrong.
There were a few good points including Sarah Burgess who sneaked away from home to try out for idol. Take that pops! Jenry Bejarano and the Jersey Girls were also quite good.
Previous Idols were also back. Nick Pedro, who bowed out last year, was back to try again. Great voice, lets just home he doesn’t crack under the pressure this time. Another previous idol, who’s name escapes me, also tried out and when on an elongated sob story when she didn’t make it. Whining doesn’t help people!
The show then ended on a Isadora (aka Julie). The race to find the worst idol is heating up. Ian was bad and Isadora was right up there with him. I bet they’d make a cute couple. The good news is, the worst of the worst show this year will be jam packed!
All in all 35 people from the New York auditions made it and plenty more didn’t.
Even though Idol was cut short tonight, we got our fill of Memphis. It started out with the mumblers. What’s wrong people? I’m pretty sure you need to be understandable to be the next American Idol. Thank God for bright spots like Jason ‘Sundance’ Head for brining a little talent to Memphis. The big guy can sing and we’ll be seeing a lot of him I have a feeling. And poor Hitchye (sp). It’s hard to hear you’re good, just not special.
Then there was Travis Mckinney. Umm, you forgot your love song at home dude. What the hell? However, the big surprise was Mr, umm… Castro making it though. WOW. It’s nice it’s not all about looks. There was also Melinda who showed us that talent is in the background and I’m glad she’s taking the next step to the foreground. The good news is we didn’t see to many Elvis impersonators. Thank goodness. Robert was more than enough.
Overall, these auditions are starting to wear thin. Sure each town has a few bright spots, and hundreds of not-so-bright spots, but overall, each city is the same. I actually like the hour long shows as it doesn’t make me feel as if I’ve wasted my entire evening.
Overall 22 hopefuls made it from Memphis Tennessee.
Chris Daughtry’s first music video, It’s Not Over, is out and just waiting for you to take a look.
Daughtry fans, go nuts.
Checking out the Wikipedia, I noticed some interesting facts on Carrie Underwood. We all know that Carrie was crowned the winner of American Idol on May 25, 2005, beating out Bo Bice but did you know…
And one fact that I can’t confirm, but I heard on the radio is that Carrie Underwood’s second album his set to his store shelves in the fall of 2007!
Since the past two nights of season one have been filled with some of the worst auditions, it’s time to take a trip back. Back to season one when American Idol auditions hit Dallas, Texas and a 20 year old by the name of Kelly Clarkson tried out. Not only did she make it to Hollywood, but so did Randy Jackson!

From the monkey boy to big red, Seattle made Minneapolis look a bit better. From the strange to the just plain horrible, Idol sure knows how to attract them. Thankfully there were a few bright spots as the 16 year olds shined, Blake Lewis the be-bopp king impressed and the 6 foot 7 lady towered over everyone!
I didn’t hear an official tally, but at least 7 made it.
