While listening to the radio the other day they played a new song by a newcomer to country music. The song was A Different World and the artist was Bucky Covington.
Bucky was a finalist in season 5 of American Idol and to be honest, I didn’t think he was that great. His voice seemed no where near the quality of most other contestant yet he made it to the top 12 and now has a record contract with Lyric Street Records.
A Different World is a song about how life was different back when we were kids. No seatbelt in cars, no video games and no unleaded paint. I think it’s a decent song, but nothing great. I also think Bucky’s voice is a bit more polished in the song. But then again, they can re-master anything in a sound studio.
You can listen to A Different World for free (and possibly download) here and at Bucky’s MySpace page.
The MySpace page also has American Friday Night, I’m Good and Empty Handed to listen to. Some of which might be decent songs.
If you can’t wait for more Bucky Covington, the entire album will be released April 17th 2007 so hold on tight.

I love the new songs by Bucky. I have heard him live on 5 different occassions and the song is true Bucky Covington. Love his voice and honestly can not wait for the CD. Thanks so much for mentioning him!
I’m in love with Bucky’s voice. Because its *not* polished is why I love it, so much texture and honesty in his tone. Hey, he made it to #8 and has a devoted fanbase for a reason, he’s got that “it” factor – a great sparkling personality, killer sense of humor and genuine downhome quality that is like a magnet to a lot of country lovers.
I love Bucky’s music. His new single “A Different World” makes you think of the wonderful times back then when everything was simpler. The rest of his songs on his upcoming cd are just as fabulous. I am not an avid cd purchaser or collector, but this is definitely one that I can’t wait to get. I will be buying several copies for family and friends as well.
