While waiting for the Simpsons to come on tonight, I caught a bit of Grease: You’re the One that I Want on NBC and had Idol flashbacks.
Lets see, three judges with two men and a women. They come up on stage with numbers on their shirts to sing and get judged. They had quite a few bad ones mixed in with a few good ones. Overall, it seemed like an Idol copy.
Ok, so I know that they can’t be completely original, and that they do have a dance competition also, but come on. They made it look and feel like American Idol auditions. I guess you gotta go with what works.
Overall, I think that Grease: You’re the One that I Want is a cool idea. The producers build up the show and let the public pick Sandy and Danny and then when it hits broadway, the voting public buys tickets and it’s a hit show. I guess it’s almost a given. It’s just if the public wants to re-do Grease for the 1000th time or not.
Are you addicted to it yet?
