American Idol is just days away from starting auditions in front of judges, but there are no judges.

After Simon left the show everything went downhill.

Ellen quit and then everything sounds like it fell apart. Randy and Kara aren’t even under contract so they could be out as well!

There have been speculations from Shania Twain to Howard Stern to be judges, but who really needs them anyway? I mean you are the one who’ll pick the winner.

The public votes, the public decides and the public controls the show; after the top 24 or so.

Yes, we still need judges to whittle down millions to a dozen or more before we get our turn, but I’m sure they could get creative and come up with a way that America could just do it all and leave the judges out of it.

What do you think? Do you want to be the next American Idol judge? Or who do you think should be?

Millions try out for American Idol and millions more want to. But what can you expect from a day of auditions?

Adventure Paul auditioned in Nashville TN for season 10 of American Idol and documented his whole journey along the way.

Her are some things Paul points out:

3 Important Things To Remember to Bring With You To An American Idol Audition:

1. Two forms of ID (drivers license, passport, social security card, birth certificate).

2. A release form that you can print from their website which includes a parental consent form if you are under 18.

3. Snacks and water. You will be waiting for hours on two different days where vendors will try and sell you $7 bottles of water.

3 Ways to Make The American Idol Audition An Affordable Trip:

1. Become a member of CouchSurfing.com–make a profile–get verified–and e-mail people a couple weeks in advance who live in or near the city that the auditions are behind held.

2. Bring plenty of bottle waters or you’ll be caught outside in the heat spending money all day on drinks.

3. Bring a bathing suit, plastic wrap, and duct tape. That way you can duct tape plastic wrap around your wristband and spend your two days swimming at a hotel you didn’t stay at. Like the Hilton. That’s free.

Teens In MusicAmerican Idol decided that talent can come in the form of 15 year olds so they decided to lower the age limit. This means we may just get a lot more whinny teenagers on TV.

Yes there are a lot of young superstars these days including Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber, but most teens are not mature enough for the spotlight. Heck a lot of people at any age aren’t ready for stardom. It’s hard, it’s time-consuming, and it’s not all fun and games.

Now that American Idol has lowered the age it’s giving more kids false hope that they can be the next big thing.

I believe that you have to be emotionally ready to be launched into the spotlight, and most high school kids aren’t even close to ready. They worry about stupid things, have no idea what it’s like outside of their parents house, think that money management is using credit cards and have no clue what life really is.

The good thing here is that American Idol will work them really hard. It will force them to grow up, to understand that the music business isn’t easy and each kid will have to work harder than they ever have before.

You never know what will happen. Maybe some teenybopper will surprise us all and become the next American Idol. I mean Jordan Sparks and David Archuleta were only 16 and they kicked butt.

Maybe 15 isn’t all that bad.

American Idol AuditionsDuring the summer of 2010, auditions for 2011′s season 10 of American Idol will be held in cities across America.

Some of those cities include:
- Nashville, Tennessee
- New Orleans, Louisiana
- Jersey City, New Jersey
- San Francisco, California

Where else do you think American Idol should hold auditions for the upcoming 2011 Season 10?

Are you the next American Idol? If so, then get to the auditions and we hope to see you on TV next season!

Every year, American Idol winners get to sing an original song and have that released on mainstream radio. But not this year.

Sure, the past songs didn’t do so great, but at least they tried. Becoming an artist is about being original, not just doing good covers.

I was sad to hear that Lee DeWyze’s single would be Beautiful Day from U2. That song is not very old and its not like it could be re-made into a hit single so soon after it hit the top of the charts. It’s familiar, it’s recent, it’s not doing to do Lee any favors.

Crystal Bowersox’s Up To the Mountain was a bit of an older song, but it was recently done by Kelly Clarkson as a charity song on American Idol. Again, the song is familiar and lacks originality.

Both U2 and Kelly Clarkson can’t be matched by any American Idol before their career even takes off.

The Idols have been out-sung and it’s a damn shame that producers didn’t give them original music to launch their career.

Just a few months ago we were meeting Lee Dewyze & Crystal Bowersox for the first time.

Here are their auditions for American Idol:

In less than a week, one will be the 2010 American Idol winner!

Adam Lamberts 3rd single, “If I Had You” hits the radio airwaves in the US very soon.

Check it on Twitpic

Will this become his first #1?

Time will tell.

Adam LambertI have to say, I had my doubts on Adam Lambert as a mentor on American Idol. He’s had little chart success and hasn’t even been out of Idol a year, but, and many users pointed out, that’s not why they picked him. They picked him because he’s a performer and someone the contestants could relate to.

I think Adam did a good job right off the bat when he admitted he had little career advice to give, but that he was going to be honest. And he was.

Adam told contestants what they were missing, told them to push themselves further and perform more. He wanted them to become memorable.

And speaking of performances, what was up with Adam’s on the results show? There was so much fog that we could hardly see him. And when we did it was very washed out. The fog and lasers were cool at first, but we wanted to see you perform.

I do like Adam Lambert and think that he has talent. It’ll be interesting to see his career evolve and hope he doesn’t let success get the best of him.

Ohh and a shout out to all the Adam Lambert fans who commented on my last post, I was very impressed at how good the comments were. I got no flat out negative comments. They were all constructive and very well done. A sign of a good artist is good fans.

Adam Lambert

When I heard that Adam Lambert was going to be a mentor on American Idol, my first thought was why? What makes him so special?

He didn’t win American Idol. He’s only had 2 singles out of which his first single peaked at #61 on Billboards Hot 100 and his second single is climbing, but not in the top 10 yet. Plus he hasn’t been in main stream music a year yet!

So what makes him a mentor?

What about Kelly Clarkson? She’s got 2 Grammys and her single, “My Life Would Suck Without You”, advanced from No. 97 to No. 1 on the Hot 100 in its first week of release, breaking the record for the largest leap to the top position in chart history.

Or Carrie Underwood who has 5 Grammys and her first album was the best-selling solo female debut album in country music history. Plus in November 2009, Carrie Underwood attained total domestic album sales of 11 million and became the highest-selling American Idol artist in the United States.

Then there is Chris Daughtry who sold more than one million copies of his first album after just five weeks of release, becoming the fastest selling debut rock album in history. That album also reached number one on the Billboard charts after nine weeks.

The talent that American Idol finds is impressive and I’m not saying that Adam Lambert isn’t talented, but what makes him a mentor? He hasn’t proven himself on the charts or in album sales, he’s barely got his career started and it just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
